Is it only the manufacturer that’s held responsible?
The product’s journey to your table is long and includes several more stages and points of responsibility. It all starts with the manufacturer but the responsibility also lies with the retail sites, the control authorities and last but not least – the consumer.
The control authorities in the State Veterinary and Sanitary Control (SVSC) and the Regional Inspections for Protection and Control of Public Health (RIPCPH) monitor the strict observance of the legal provisions for food safety and quality.
The retail sites provide the necessary storage conditions for the finished products, monitor their shelf life and their appearance.
The consumer makes an informed choice by reading the label, reporting any irregularities and seeking their rights.
