The importance of meat in a balanced diet
Healthy eating is tailored to the individual metabolism of each person. You don't need to deprive yourself of your favourite dishes to have a balanced diet. The term “healthy” does not exclude “tasty”. Meat and meat products are important components of our diet and are an essential element of a balanced diet. To eat healthily, we need to eat meat because it contains essential amino acids – an important factor in protein synthesis.
In order for protein synthesis to take place in the human body, all amino acids must be available at the same time. The main amino acids are called “essential”. They are not synthesised in the human body and require food intake. This means that if one of them is the absent, protein synthesis will not take place. Meat is a complete food in terms of amino acid content. This meat can be taken in various forms: as fresh meat for cooking; minced preparation products; sausages; ham or raw-dried delicacies.
